In 1969 The Who released a rock opera about a boy who despite his psychosomatic deafness, blindness, and inability to speak rises to worldwide renown, somehow finds a cure for his ailments and becomes a religious sensation. In 1975, Ken Russell and Robert Stigwood gathered together some of the biggest names in rock music, including Tina Turner, and brought that rock opera to the big screen. With The Who frontman Roger Daltrey as the titular character, the film adaptation brings the album to life in a way that can never truly be duplicated.
